getting into lucy knisley’s work
An illustrated presentation on graphic travelogues by Lucy Knisley. I’ve been meaning to buy her books. Finally ordered her first book “French Milk” yesterday. Very excited for it to arrive. I’m thinking I could buy her books in chronological order, like my Reading Kazuo Ishiguro’s Work In Chronological Order project :]
Updated (17 June 2022): French Milk arrived yesterday! I read it before bed last night and I’ve got 30 more pages to go. I know, I can’t even afford my own habit is my verdict.
In other news, I used Lucy’s method of prepping her travel sketchbook from the video above (use paper you like, punch holes in them, bound them together using binder rings, add hardcovers etc) for our trip to Barcelona last week and I loved it! This setup got me real excited to wake up in the morning and draw draw draw. Such a relief cos I had been kind of hating my drawings for a few months, let’s be real. You can see several pages from Barcelona in the Sketches page.
